Amazon.com The culture-clash plot of filmmaker Gurinder Chada's surprise, soccer-girl-themed '02 hit Bend It Like Beckham couldn't offer American audiences much more than her bright, hand-picked sampler of India's pop music. But Chada's more traditional morality tale here (a limber adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice featuring Indian superstar Aishwarya Rai) shimmers with the intoxicating visual and musical splendors of a full-blown Bollywood-meets-Hollywood production. The song-score by noted Indian musical star Anu Malik is charged by propulsive folk rhythms ("Punjab Wedding Song," "Dola Dola"), yet laced with knowing Western pop conceits that range from Caribbean hip-hop ("No Life Without Wife") to the Broadway-suffused ballads "A Marriage Has Come to Town," "Take Me To Love (1&2)," and "Arrogance, Pride and Vanity." American R&B star Ashanti's sultry "My Lips Are Waiting" and "Touch My Body" complete Malik's enticing East-meets-West fusion, a delightful, dizzying primer to his country's most beloved film and music genre. --Jerry McCulley
Album Details Soundtrack to the 2004 Bollywood Film Starring Aishwarya Rai, Namrata Shirodkar and Martin Henderson.the Soundtrack by Anu Malik also features R and B Artiste Ashanti.

Bolly-bolly-bolly March 18, 2008 As a fan of both Jane Austen novels and Bollywood films, I adored the film "Bride and Prejudice." The music from this film is delightful, carrying me cheerfully through rush hour traffic. The percussive nature of the music sticks in the mind long after the music stops playing. "No life, without wife... oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah..."
What is everyone TALKING about? February 9, 2008 Blech! I bought this based on all the good reviews. It was TERRIBLE. Couldn't even listen a second time - went straight to the give-away box (what a waste of money)!
Not nearly enough dance music, just horrid sappy ballads that grate on the ears. Can anyone recommend a great bhangra cd for dancing?
Very Boppy January 22, 2008 A great beat for making dinner to. Even the neighborhood first graders come over and ask for the 'hey-hey' song and they dance around.
Hooray for Bollywood! November 8, 2007 I found this movie because of my sister, who is a huge Jane Austen fan. She said it was one of her kids' favorite movies, so since my kids are about the same age I thought I would give it a try. After we watched a borrowed movie, we ended up having to get both the movie and the soundtrack, my kids loved it so much. They dance all over the house and sing along with the songs (as much as they can). It's just a good wholesome movie with great music and dancing. It has also introduced them to a style of movie and music that I'm not sure I would have found on my own. I have not seen many other movies in the Bollywood style, but if there are more like this one, we're on board.
Excelent XXXXX September 13, 2007 I was not Bollywood film fan but after watching in Television this film, I have decided to buy a copy of the film to watch it in future. My friends family & myself was very impress. Only one comment quality of the print is not as good as shown on the TV. Humar, Story & music is brilent. Certainly it has amused me.
