Book Description The highly anticipated follow-up to the 2,000,000 copy bestselling inspirational book, The Power of Now With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence. The Power of Now was a question-and-answer handbook. A New Earth has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of lifeand for building a better world. About the Author ECKHART TOLLE is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of the ancient spiritual masters: There is a way out of suffering and into peace. Eckhart travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.

don't waste your money or time... August 27, 2008 Was Oprah kidding with this book? I can't even force myself to finish this book. This is a book of a bunch of nothing that goes in circles. I am sure the author would say this is my giant ego speaking (he speaks a lot about our egos) and he's right, my ego and I have wasted enough time.
A REAL AWAKENING August 26, 2008 I love this book and have also bought the Cd's of this book. I play the Cd's in my car while traveling and they help me to calmly drive in the worst of traffic. Never let your ego get the better of you, and if you fail , just recognize it. I have read the book and listened to the cd's 3 times. If you are ready it will be a real awakening to your life's purpose. I plan to give it as a gift to many friends along the way. Learning to question your ego helps in so many ways. The burden of anger and resentment fall away.
Down with Oprah's Book Club Selections! August 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a weird book not worth reading. Oprah is the worst at picking books. I have never read a book from her selections that were not disturbing and bizarre. If you are into disturbing and bizarre you might like this book. But then again you would like the Celestial Prophecy and other new age books.
Waste of precious time (not to mention ink and paper) August 26, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I picked up this book to see what Oprah was so excited about, skimmed through to get the gist, started to read more closely, and got so disgusted I couldn't finish it. What was so frustrating was that he identified some real problems, but was way off base with his solutions. His spirituality seemed to be mainly a blend of Christianity and Buddhism. He rails against some Christians for thinking they have the Truth, but seems to believe that what he is writing is Truth. Most frustrating of all was that he often wrenched scripture passages out of context and twisted their meaning. Unless the reader already has a good grasp on the Bible, he may think that Tolle is advocating spiritual message that is consistent with Christianity and end up very confused. My advice is to just skip this book--there are so many better ways to spend your time.
A New Earth - Eckhart Tolle August 25, 2008 It is a very interesting, positive, well written book that gets you to view life from another perspective. Depending on the moment in life that you are, its a wonderful book to read.
