 Courageous Endeavor December 2, 2008
Thank you for writing this incredible book! When my book first arrived in the mail I left it sitting in my car, I was almost afraid to find out what was inside the book. As my courage mounted I moved the book into my room, but was still afraid of what I might discover. Finally I began to read, and did not stop until I was reading the last page. As I read this book there were tiny glimpses into what may have been my daughter's beginnings in China. I will always be grateful for Ms. Bratt's courage to share the ENTIRE story.
 A glimpse into orphanage life November 4, 2008
This book reaffirmed what I had been feeling about my own daughters 19 months in an orphanage. Of course, we will never know for sure what really went on there; however, Kay Bratt's Silent Tears explained and validated some feelings, thoughts and some of my daughters behaviors. If you have adopted or are thinking of adopting, this is the book for you. I will pass it on to our family and friends so they can better understand our little princess!

I enjoyed the content. This story is fascinating, but the writing is very average.
Difficult story to read - but a must read October 5, 2008
As the mother of a child adopted from China, I picked up Silent Tears wanting to know more of the experiences of the author in China and in particular in the orphanages. It was heart breaking to learn how many of the children were treated, but this is reality. As much as we may want to sugar coat the lives that many of our children had before they were adopted, the reality is that their lives weren't so rosy. To ignore and try to pretend that it's not so is doing a disservice to our children.
Thank you for such an honest portrayal of life in a Chinese SWI.
An Amazing Journey October 5, 2008
If you are even a little bit curious about what it would be like to spend time in a Chinese orphanage, this is a MUST read. Kay's journey and her work with the children are fascinating, and I was glued to the page. As a soon-to-be adoptive parent, I appreciate her honesty and her willingness to fight for the children of this orphanage. I also appreciate her openness about culture shock and what it is like to live as an ex-pat in China.
