Product Description
Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird’s adventures at the school take a mysterious turn. Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies. And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends. So begins the gripping third installment of this “highly addictive series” (Romantic Times), in which Zoey’s mettle will be tested like never before. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn’t have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity. Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare position of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster. Just when it seems things couldn’t get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey’s horrid step-father in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely reflects the truth…

The House of Night Continues to Rock December 4, 2008 Goddess blessed vampire fledgling Zoey and her friends must face treachery and hate crimes while still trying to get good grades (and date) at the House of Night, a vampire finishing school. In this episode Zoey (Z to her close friends) tries to save her undead best friend from a fate worse than death, manage three boyfriends who all want something different from her, and keep the school's evil High Priestess from figuring out her plans.
This segment felt more like a long chapter than a book in its own right. There was some good story movement but the ending was rushed and the conclusion flat. I would have liked to have given the characters more time to play out the drama. Instead of unfolding, the story hits like a mac truck and doesn't stop for anything. While this may lead to furious page turning at 1:00 AM it ultimately feels less satisfying than its slightly slower paced predecessors.
One other complaint: now that we're on to the 3rd book it is harder to get a new reader up to speed. We end up with a lot of exposition that felt clunky and thrown together. The teen language helps to keep it from feeling droll, but it still comes off as a necessary evil instead of an exciting background story. One of the most fun parts of this series is that the tone is so conversational it feels as if Z is telling the story to you, the reader in a relaxed setting. The exposition took me out of that comfortable place. I hope it's better in book four, which I'm about to start reading tonight.
Very worth it if you liked the first two!
Started good then turned bad December 2, 2008 Marked and betrayed were fun action filled book, though not very well written, but compared to chosen, it makes them look like harry potter. Chosen was just about zoey runing around, doing nothing and making out with every guy she sees. I get that she is a love struck teenager and that her whole life has been turned around, but she honestly does nothing in this book. three quaters of the book is just about her being a slut and the last quarter is about everything going wrong, talk about suicidal. I think the casts could have done so much better with this book!
About as good as the twilight series November 18, 2008 I started reading the first book of this series about 5 days ago and was hooked. I almost liked it more than the twilight series. I love the action and different spin P.C. Cast and her daughter take to create this amazing young adults vampire series! You all will love it if you loved the Twilight series.
Good Series November 5, 2008 I like these series but if you want Vampire don't read this one. It is more about the earth, and other elements but not enough blood sucking stuff. :) Not to say I don't like the story of all the books in the series. It just doesn't do a whole lot about vampires. She loses all her men in this book but at least she got some kind of action. I did not like the 4th book.
Sexy! October 27, 2008 This was an awesome book. It was very sexy and clean at the same time. I would read it all over again..I think this is my favorite book from the whole series..
