 Unforgettable and Unique! January 9, 2009
Amazing book! A wonderful world of fascinating characters, haunting history and sweet humor. I loved this book and will surely read it again. I'm also recommending it to everyone I know. Brilliant writing!
good as pie January 8, 2009
For a novel told strictly through letters it is hard to convey information sometimes and even limits plot points for a writer, but these women who authored this book did an outstanding job creating a full, populated world without sacrificing anything. I loved the hominess of the book and the feeling of piecing together the story bit by bit. Similar to a "diary format", this novel lets you enter immediately into the characters' lives and use your own imagination to fill in the blanks. This is a perfect read for bibliophiles who take pride in their book collection. Fine story.

You know you love a book when you hold it to your heart when you are finished and you are sorry it's over. This has to be the best book I have read in a long time...and I read a LOT..

Fascinating history in letter form January 6, 2009
The quirky characters come to life via letters in this wonderful read that also educates about life during and post WWII. I found myself drawn in immediately and didn't want this book to end.
