Uncomfortably commercial November 10, 2008 I have read a variety of books in the spirituality realm and something about this author doesn't strike me as authentic. I have read many reviews here and the most disturbing are the ones that give little detail as they blindly praise this author's divinity and wisdom.
I was concerned when I opened the book and it explained how it would do what no other book could do, offering "Divine Downloads"--why do so few reviewers mention these?--and you have to purchase each book in the series to get his complete list of divine downloads.
Dr. Sha also referred to Jesus teaching "the way" in his opening statement. The Tao means "The Way" and it predated Jesus Christ by 500 years. He gave credit to the wrong teacher.
I wondered, as I read through Chapter 1, if the repetitive nature of this book is meant to teach first-timers to the spirituality realm. He stresses the importance and benefits of his way of teaching once and then "in other words" for what seems like the bulk of this book.
Here's the thing that I find most uncomfortable: You don't have to sell spirituality. No one has the perfect way that you can only find in his book, or shall I say "series" of books. There are many ways to reach forgiveness, peace, harmony and love. This teaching gives me an uncomfortable feeling of exclusivity. In fact, I wondered why a book about the soul, as written by Sha, was not published by Hay House--a very inclusive, "try everything that works for you"-type of company. After reading the focus and tone, I realize why Hay House might have passed on this manuscript.
I became skeptical early on, but I tried to keep an open mind and give his lessons a try. I only got as far as "Soul Language" when he gave me a number to chant over and over, but I don't know what the number means--it's a secret and he promised to sell that secret to me in another book later on.
"Master Sha" allowed me to call on his soul as I performed my Divine Download, as long as I paid him the common courtesy of returning it when I was done. Perhaps this is an Eastern practice I have never heard of, but it felt too much to me like asking the Priest to bless my relationship with God. The way I believe, I never needed the priest to communicate with God and I don't need Master Sha to "be with me" as I meditate and find peace and wisdom from within.
I feel duped by the five-star reviews and the lack of information here posted on Amazon. I bought this book because of its previous best-seller status and the quantity of high reviews, but I agree with a previous review: something's off about the system here. I would go so far as to say that Team Sha posted more than half of the reviews to promote his "teachings."
The only reason I gave this book a second star is because, as you lead into the soul transformations that only Sha has the rights to, he offers practical advice in generalized terms about suffering, forgiveness and unconditional love and gratitude. That is the core of spirituality.
The world is in need of and has a desire for a spiritual movement, unfortunately I feel that this "soul series" is cashing in on the market. You can find wonderful, inclusive lessons from Hay House Publishers. I recommend Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Jerry and Esther Hicks--to name a few from that camp.
If you don't want Hay House, try Martha Beck, who writes wonderful books about finding your soul's purpose and following your destiny.
Flawed November 8, 2008 I don't disagree with very much in this book. I'm pretty New Agey, but I was often bored and irritated when reading this book. It is repetitive to the point of being tortuous. I also did not like the way the book took on the tone of those prosperity gospel preachers. It seemed at times to promise the world, including material goods, and I was not comfortable with that. In fact, it had the feel of an infomercial that went on and on. Still, there are some good ideas in here--it'll just take lots of weeding to get to them.
Truly life changing and wise November 6, 2008 I was drawn to this book immediately, although when it arrived I couldn't fathom what had made me pick it!
Once I opened the book and started reading though I was blown away. What I mean is this -- within hours of picking up the book things started coming into focus in my life in a way that I hadn't expected.
Here's an example: Shortly after reading the introduction and the first chapter I took a nap. During my nap I experienced the most profound dreams - that guides and loved ones were surrounding me and showing the way to healing for my clients, the earth and all those that I come in contat with. (Note, there were no untoward substances in my body at the time, and while I consider myself a spiritual person and one who dreams frequently - this was highly out of character!)
I even woke up and told several people about the dream. Instead of laughing or pooh-poohing what I had to say, they seemed interested and open. (Again, if you knew these people like I know these people this was out of character)
Dr. Sha clearly has infused this book with healing and wisdom and I'm feeling lighter, clearer and more capable of providing service to my clients and my fellow humans as a result of reading this profound book.
The words itself are pretty dense however when I stop struggling with each word and trying to force myself to "get it" and rather just read and let the words sit in my super-conscious things all fall into place.
If you are ready to accept responsibility for changing your world - I highly recommend you not only purchase this book now, but you read it as soon as it arrives!

very relaxing book November 4, 2008 This was a well-written book. The chapters flowed nicely into one another. The wisdom given was inspiring, enlightening, and not nauseating. My favorite part was the CD that came with the book, The Soul Song for Healing and Rejuvenation. I played it in my car as I was driving. I did the blessing as instructed before listening, and I really did feel that I received extra benefits from the CD. The book and CD make a great combo. Be sure to utilize the info in the index. There are many resources presented for further transforming your life and healing your soul. The author offers live healing/blessing sessions! Don't miss out.
It might work for others but I experienced nothing November 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Soul Wisdom: Practical Soul Treasures to Transform Your life by Dr. Zhi Gang Sha took me longer to read than most books because I wanted to do the suggested exercises, to follow the teachings as closely as I could.
I need to predicate this review by saying that I believe in energy work, do Qi Gong and Reiki with great success but only as a practitioner. I know it works because I have witnessed and experienced it in my life.
I did not experience success with Dr. Sha's exercises. I devoted myself to them and did not experience that intuitive awareness that there was something there. The physical things I associate with energy work were not there.
This is not to suggest that what he recommends is useless. If there were only one branch of healing that worked, there would not be so many branches out there. Do Dr. Sha's methods work? He wouldn't have a best-seller if they didn't. But after hours with soul language and song, I had nothing positive or negative to say. It was just nothing.
Also, I am unable to review the cd that comes with the book because the one I had did not work in any of the many players we have in our home. Not terribly disappointing. I am content if uninspired.
My final thoughts--try this on for size. If you reap benefits and can share them with others, wonderful! If not, there are other methods out there to be experienced and you can find a fit that resonates for you. Listen to your intuition and the rest will follow.
